Hamburger Steaks with Onion Gravy


 My husbands exact words after his first bite, “Oh my god, Ashley, this is fantastic! I’m actually hoping the kids don’t like theirs now. 


**Ingredients:**


**For the Hamburger Steaks:**


* 1 lb ground beef

* 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

* 1/4 cup milk

* 1 egg

* 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

* 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

* 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

* Salt and pepper to taste

* 2 tablespoons vegetable oil


**For the Onion Gravy:**


* 2 tablespoons butter

* 1 onion, chopped

* 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

* 1 cup beef broth

* Salt and pepper to taste


**Instructions:**


1. **Make the Meatballs:** In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well. Form into 4 patties.

2. **Cook the Meatballs:** Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the meatballs until browned on both sides and cooked through.

3. **Make the Gravy:** In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté the onion until softened. Sprinkle flour over the onions and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth until smooth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, or until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

4. **Serve:** Serve the meatballs with the onion gravy. 


**Tips:**


* For a juicier meatball, don't overcook them.

* You can add other ingredients to the meatball mixture, such as chopped mushrooms or bell peppers.

* Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
