Deep Dish Apple Crisp


 


ORGANIC Ingredients:


For the Apple Filling:


6-7 medium-sized apples (a mix of sweet and tart varieties), peeled, cored, and sliced


1/2 cup granulated sugar


2 tablespoons all-purpose flour


1 teaspoon ground cinnamon


1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg


1 tablespoon lemon juice


**For the Crisp Topping:**


1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats


1 cup all-purpose flour


1 cup packed brown sugar


1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon


1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened


**Instructions:**


Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a deep-dish pie plate or a 9×9-inch baking dish.


In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are well coated. 


Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.


In a separate bowl, prepare the crisp topping by mixing together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to combine the ingredients until you have a crumbly texture.


Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the apple mixture in the baking dish.


Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown, and the apples are tender.


Remove the deep dish apple crisp from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.


Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
